Norfolk housing developments forced NHS to warn GPs about local infrastructure funding

NHS England has issued a warning following GPs being blocked from local infrastructure funding in a Norfolk development.

The development involves approximately 170 new homes, which is set to leave GP practices being unable to cope with patient numbers increasing as they do not have the additional funding. This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened – Dr Tim Morton, Norfolk and Waveney LMC chair, told Pulse that his own practice in Beccles also fell short of additional funding when 1,350 new homes had been built in the area.

NHS England said GPs should be given some of the money from the community infrastructure levy (CIL), which local authorities can charge developers for and then pass on to local services of their choosing.
