Red-letter day for health services: What happened?

Yesterday marked a red-letter day for Cumbria’s health services, with NHS chiefs voting on what they believed to be the most sustainable way forward for health services in the north, east and west of the county.

It was decided that consultant-led maternity services would stay at the west Cumberland hospital for at least twelve months, running alongside a separate midwife-led service.

This caused the greatest amount of anger amongst people in west Cumbria.
