Health chief: no plans for Ross-on-Wye community hospital to lose its beds

HEALTH chiefs have moved to reject claims by a by-election candidate that there are plans for Ross-on-Wye Community Hospital to lose all its beds.

An online petition was set up by Julian Utting, who is running in the Ross by-election, to keep beds at the Ross hospital and to see the hospital space expanded.

He set it up in response to one of the options being considered in the draft Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) for Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The draft plan, which is the five-year-plan for the NHS in the two counties, puts forward an option to remove beds at some community hospitals and instead use the space as a hub for home-based community services.
