The proposed merger of Bedford Hospital and Luton & Dunstable Hospital has been delayed.
The plan was for it to happen by 1 April.
The merger business case was passed to NHS Improvement (NHSI) in December.
Both the hospital chief executives say the delay is down to “financial agreements not yet in place”.
Further meetings between the two boards are due to take place in June to review progress.
