The RCN has signed a joint letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer warning of the impact of the decision to cut £200 million from this year’s public health grant to local health authorities.

The letter warns that the decision is a ‘false economy’, which will increase preventable ill-health and could end up costing the NHS over £1 billion.

It adds that reversing the proposed cuts will “relieve pressure on our overburdened NHS, tackle inequalities and improve people’s health and wellbeing.”
