NHS faced with ‘savage’ cuts in west London hospitals, according to new report

“Savage” cuts are on the horizon for north west London hospitals in a bid to meet financial targets, a new report suggests.

NHS England is considering reducing further funding in the area, which could see the closing of wards and extended waiting times, according to The Health Service Journal (HSJ).

The journal summarised a number of measures NHS England and NHS improvement and health managers are discussing for the areas of the country with the highest overspends.

The cuts could also see the downgrading of wards and services, restricting NHS funding for some treatments and limiting the number of operations carried out by non-NHS providers, the HSJ reported.
