The decision will decide whether routine IVF treatment will be available on the NHS in Cambridgeshire – this treatment is available in to women under 40 for the most of England. Cambridgeshire CCG is apparently in the top 3 of the lowest funded CCGs in England, but it was recommended today to the Governance Board that this treatment should be suspended until the CCG “returns to a sustainable financial surplus”. According to Cambridge News, the financial situation has been getting worse since the initial suspension in 2017. The CCG had a £21.6m deficit then, which has risen to a forecast £75m this year.
