More details have emerged about a major shake-up of Cornwall’s NHS, which could close minor injury units.
It suggests they could be set to replaced with less walk-in centres under the Sustainability and Transformation Plan.
The plan predicts the whole healthcare system could be more than £260 million in the red in five years.
While bosses insist they will not make any big changes without public consultations, campaigners fear there could be a wholesale closure of 10 of Cornwall’s minor injuries units, to be replaced with up to five urgent care centres.
Graham Webster is the vice chairman of Health Initiative Cornwall.
He tells Pirate FM he is concerned about a number of issues in the report, including the closure of acute hospital beds.
He claims all community hospitals are at risk: “We know from the draft plans that there is an intention to cut acute hospital beds and to replace the Minor Injury Units with up to five urgent care centres.
