Residents in Lutterworth have begun a fight to save their local hospital.
They fear that the Feilding Palmer Hospital could be closed as part of plans being drawn up to save about £400 million off health spending across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland by 2021.
The plan – known as the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) – outlines the closure of the beds at the hospital.
Patients would then be cared for in their own homes or in other local community hospitals.
NHS officials say there will be more primary care and outpatient facilities, including diagnostic services, although “not necessarily within the existing hospital building.
