A health ambassador has urged people to take advantage of patient groups to share their concerns and ask questions about a far reaching plan, which is set to shape the future of healthcare in Burton.
John Anderson, who lives in the town, is an ambassador for patient group Healthwatch, and said proposals to downgrade either Burton Queen’s Hospital, Royal Stoke or the County Hospital in Stafford into an urgent care centre will affect all Burton residents, even if Burton’s accident and emergency department is not downgraded. The proposals are contained in the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) compiled by health bosses.
The Burton Mail is campaigning to save the A&E department at Burton’s Queen’s Hospital from a potential downgrade, which is outlined in the Sustainability and Transformation plan.
The campaign has been highlighting the thoughts and opinions of people in Burton and South Derbyshire and sharing their experiences in a bid to drum up support to prevent the downgrade from going ahead.
