East Surrey Hospital had to cancel 28 operations in four days due to the high number of attendances at their emergency department.
East Surrey Hospital, located in Canada Avenue, Earlswood, cancelled the operations from January 2-5 and also cited its winter plan as part of the reason.
Michael Wilson CBE, chief executive at Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, said: “As part of our winter plan, and in response to the high number of attendances at our emergency department, we continue to review our planned elective procedures on a daily basis.
“As a result of this review we have had to cancel 28 elective procedures [during the week of January 2-5 2018].”
