More than 17,000 people in Nottingham have seen their GP surgery either close completely or merge with another site in the past five years.
A total of eight practices have closed in the city since March 2013. And while three have merged with other nearby surgeries, the others have closed completely, leaving patients to find new places to attend.
A spokesman from Healthwatch Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, which represents patients in the area, said: “It is very disappointing to see such a high number of people in Nottingham being affected by this. We know that locally, as well as nationally, recruitment to general practice is a significant concern.”
