The HSJ reports that hospitals can no longer order around 150 of critical care products through normal channels because of an “exceptional increase in national demand.”
NHS Supply Chain has been suspending intensive care unit consumables from its online catalogue since early May to prevent shortages, according to its website. On Friday morning, 15 new items, including eight tracheostomy kits, five tracheostomy tubes and one vascular catheter, were suspended from the catalogue which brings the total to 151 products.
